My writing in English class has been like a rollercoaster.I have had my ups and my downs, but from time to time, when I think that for sure I was going to fail, something good would eventually happen to me.This year English class has been a good run for me.If I keep working at my writing, maybe I could get better. As soon as I start to fall again, it is as if God is watching over my shoulder pulling me right back up.When I thought on a test, that just maybe I studied enough and I knew I was going to pass a test with flying colors, I only got a C.Another type of example is when I had it clear in my mind I was going to fail, I came back and got a B on a test or quiz. Then that pulled up my grade, and gave me a better chance of passing the class. This year I have improved on focusing on my central idea.I still need more time though to keep improving and getting better at staying on one topic. One of my best improvements was in Haikus because I finally understood the concept of how you write them, and where you get your ideas from. This year while working on elaboration I still need much room for improvement.Being able to expand further out then what I have already done is a struggle for me.My best piece using elaboration would have to be my seat belt essay.I understood how to do it a little bit, but I had a hard time trying to figure out how to do it.While working on my unity this year, I have done much better than any other time in the past. While working on my unity this year, I still struggle trying to figure out a good conclusion sentence for any paragraph.Although I have improved at being able to put everything together and make it work in any good paragraph. As I have been organizing my thoughts together I improved more than I ever thought that I would.I havelearned how to organize everything so that it sounds right, and that I didn’t put things into backwards order like I did last year and the years before. While I have made some major improvements in organization there are still some things that I struggle in like when to fit commas in. I am improving in that still, but it still also needs a lot of work. I have worked very hard on my word choice this year, but I still struggle a lot in choosing the right thing to say.For example, whenever I choose the right thing to say the first time I know that it is wrong because I will call over a teacher to ask for some help, and just as I thought I should put in something different to make whatever it is sound better.I think that at least by the end of next year I will get better at it though.Making all of my sentences sound different this year has been my best point in written expression domain this year.I have found out how to make all of my sentences sound better and this is one of the things that I do not struggle with.My tone has gotten much better from last year, but it still needs much room for improvement. An example would be like, whenever I was having a good time in one of my stories about my past some people said they could tell I was really having a good time, but whenever I was mad or sad it was hard for me to express that feeling without actually saying that I was mad or sad.In my own opinion my voice this year has improved to a level where it breaks away from what I could ever do before as if people could hear my voice while reading the story, and that make me feel good because I know that I am improving and getting better.
Forming sentences together this year has not been my thing.Coming up with the ideas just clear out of the sky has been a long struggle for me.Although even if it did take me a long time to come up with, I guess that means that you are doing well, and improving at the same time.My usage this year, I have a very good feeling about because I have been using the right word a lot, but I know that I still need room for improvement because I am not always using the right word in my sentences so I need to work on that and improve it some more to make sure I am putting in the right thing. While working on my capitalization I improved because I know what to capitalize and when to do it.My spelling has improved, but I still need to learn how to spell some of the much bigger words better and save them fresh in my mind.My punctuation still needs to be improved because at times I keep forgetting to add in commas, and all of the right punctuation devices needed.
